True love—and world war—is at stake in the conclusion to The Pledge trilogy, a dark and romantic blend of dystopia and fantasy.
Charlie, otherwise known as Queen Charlaina of Ludania, has become comfortable as a leader and a ruler. She’s done admirable work to restore Ludania’s broken communications systems with other Queendoms, and she’s mastered the art of ignoring Sabara, the evil former queen whose Essence is alive within Charlie. Or so she thinks.
When the negotiation of a peace agreement with the Queendom of Astonia goes awry, Charlie receives a brutal message that threatens Ludania, and it seems her only option is to sacrifice herself in exchange for Ludanian freedom.
But things aren’t always as they seem. Charlie is walking into a trap—one set by Sabara, who is determined to reclaim the Queendoms at any cost.
My Thoughts:
At first I didn't want to read this book. For no other reason than I didn't want to see this awesome series come to an end. But Kimberly did a perfect job, so I am proud to add it as one of my first books to finish in 2014. In this book we watch as Queen Charlaina (Charlie)tries to prevent war for her country all the while continuing the battle against Sabara for control over herself. We also watch unfold, the struggle Charlie has with herself over the real reason behind some of her decisions. With enemies closing in on her inside & out Charlie makes some very difficult, but brave choices. As with the books before the characters are easy to relate to and completely fall in love with. The new characters are wonderful additions to round the story out. The series retained its uniqueness in all three books. If you're truly looking for something new & fresh I beg you...read this series!!
