The Reluctant Bachelorette by Rachael Anderson
Unknowingly cast as the bachelorette for her town’s charity event, Taycee Emerson wants out. Especially when she discovers her old teenage crush, Luke Carney, is one of the bachelors and it's up to the viewers--not her--to decide which bachelors stay or go.
Coerced into participating, Taycee does what any self-preserving girl would do. She launches a subtle attack on Luke’s good name with the hope of getting him voted off the show. Unfortunately, Luke's an eye-for-an-eye kind of guy, and when he discovers what she's up to, it means revenge.
But when their pranks go south, will they screw up any chance they have at a future together, or will they be able to forgive and forget and prove that love really does conquer all?

Excerpt:
Taycee’s fingers clenched around her napkin encased utensils. She’d had enough—of everyone. The gratitude. The expectations. The accusations. The taunting. Not even curly fries were worth this. She shoved her
chair back and stood. “You know what, Luke? You’re just as cocky as you were back in high school. And for the record, you’re the last person in the world I’d ever want to date. As far as I’m concerned, the sooner you get voted off, the better.”
With that, Taycee turned on her heel and ran straight into a guy carrying a plate of ketchup coated French fries.

My Thoughts:
Most of us remember that childhood crush. That unrequited love we had for a friend's older sibling or an older sibling's friend. I know I had one or four. I've even been able to stay in touch with one or two to see how they've grown & changed.
Taycee is still crushing on Luke, her big brother's best friend from high school. Like Taycee, I have a huge problem with change. It's freaking scary!! And just like Taycee I have come to see how much change is needed, to grow and have new experiences. I related to Taycee in a hundred different ways. She's sentimental and fiercely protective over what she loves. Her world is incomplete with out Luke, but comes completely undone when he moves back to their hometown! I loved how they teased and tested each other as their relationship grew from childhood infatuation on her part to well...you'll have to read to find out. It's so worth it! This story is filled with laugh out loud moments and some pretty good pranks. Luke is just DE-LICIOUS!! It was so interesting to see how Taycee & Luke remembered the same past in two entirely different ways. This book is a fantastic, light read. There was no bad language and very little, if any, sexual content.
