Review for Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Obsidian (Lux, #1)
Picture and synopsis from goodreads.com
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.And then he opened his mouth.Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me.You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don't kill him first, that is.

The last few months I have found myself in a reading slump. It has been extremely distressing.  Reading is my escape.  As it is for so many others it's my happy place.  I have started and put down more books in the last few months than I have in several years put together.  I can't blame the books, not all of them at least.  I was beginning to think I'd lost my passion for reading.
Thanks to Jennifer and Obsidian for pulling me out of that black pit of frustration!  This book was just what I needed.  Jennifer has written a story I immediately fell in love with.  Both Daemon and Katy are brilliant, strong characters who don't take crap from each other or anyone else.  Their love/hate relationship was H-O-T, HOT!  I feel the tension between them like static electricity waiting to shock you.  Like Katy, I wanted to hate Daemon for being such a jerk.  Yet, I got enough of a glimpse into his motivation for such enraging behavior that I just couldn't do it.
The story is paced perfect with spectacular adventure and some delicious make out scenes. ~insert waggling eyebrows~
I have yet to see any bad reviews for this book or any of Jennifer's books actually.  What a testament to such a talented author.  I am 100% hooked.  I've even joined a Daemon Invasion street team, go DaemonsDreamers!!  I will be delving into her Covenant series next.

  1. I too loved this book, it was so fun and all the hotness had me wishing for more:) I agree Daemon showed enough of his softer side to not make me want to throw my book across the room.
    I'm eagerly awaiting Onyx!!

  2. Don't worry! I think every one who reads her is hooked. And the make out scenes? Oh babe. I hope you like her covenant series as well! I like them just as much, maybe more than, no not more than, sorry, as Obsidian. They are different though. Enjoy!
